From the upcoming album Dark Country, Orphans & Walls is an appeal to the faith and church family in which I was raised to return to the teaching and example of the Jesus of the Gospels. It was a kind of "what are we doing here, guys?" thing. I originally wrote the song in 2018, and it felt very specific to that moment in time. I assumed it would have a very short shelf life. But it's just felt more relevant as time has passed, and I've performed it live hundreds of times since. Produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ian Aeillo. GeorgeAnne Prescott - banjo, Lee Gambrel - drums, Kate Williams - keys, Dave Keim - bass. Additional vocals by very special guest Molly Welsh.
